Deadlines of EU rules: what applies when
One timeline for the EU rules that reach companies selling into the Czech Republic and Slovakia – EU dates plus the Czech and Slovak national milestones. Each date comes with the article of the act, so you can check it against the primary text, not a retold blog post.
How to read it: “applies” means the obligation is already running and you deal with it now; “in … days” shows how much time is left.
EU applies directly in both countries, CZ and SK mark national milestones.
Each row leads to the page of the area. We update the timeline as the rules evolve.

EU CRA Regulation (EU) 2024/2847
The Cyber Resilience Act entered into force. The main obligations for manufacturers of products with digital elements phase in during 2026–2027. The regulation applies directly, without a national act.

EU GPSR Regulation (EU) 2023/988
The General Product Safety Regulation applies. Full obligations for online shops, manufacturers and importers of non-food products.

SK NIS2 Act No. 69/2018 Coll. as amended by Act No. 366/2024 Coll.
The Slovak transposition of NIS2 takes effect: notification to the National Security Authority (NBÚ) within 60 days, security measures within 12 months, incident reporting. Entities already regulated before 2025 have a transitional period until 31 December 2026 (Section 34b(5)).

The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 entered into force – the transitional periods started running.

SK GPSR Act No. 83/2025 Coll.
The Slovak act on general product safety takes effect: instructions and safety information in Slovak (Section 2), supervision by the Slovak Trade Inspection (SOI), fines of up to €50,000 (Section 9).

EU EAA Directive (EU) 2019/882
The European Accessibility Act applies: accessibility requirements for listed consumer products and services, such as online shops. Micro-enterprises providing services are exempt. Czech Republic: Act No. 424/2023 Coll.; Slovakia: Act No. 351/2022 Coll. (exemption for micro-enterprises providing services in Section 2(3), supervision by the SOI).

CZ NIS2 Cybersecurity Act
The new Czech cybersecurity rules (transposition of NIS2) start to apply – obligations and incident reporting for regulated entities.

EU CBAM Regulation (EU) 2023/956
The definitive CBAM period begins – obligations for importers of selected goods (iron, steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, electricity, hydrogen). The de minimis exemption does not apply to electricity and hydrogen. Competent authority in Slovakia: the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic.

SK EAA Government Regulation No. 89/2026 Coll.
Government Regulation No. 89/2026 Coll. takes effect, replacing Government Regulation No. 282/2023 Coll. – the accessibility requirements for products (terminals, e-readers, hardware) have applied in Slovakia since 28 June 2025.

The right to repair applies in Slovakia: the manufacturer’s obligation to repair selected products and the European Repair Information Form. Contact point for the European platform: the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic.

EU PPWR Art. 71
The Packaging Regulation applies. Among other things: PFAS limits in food-contact packaging and the heavy-metal limit (Art. 5), the EU declaration of conformity and technical documentation (Art. 15), and the obligations of importers and distributors (Art. 18 and 19). The recyclability criteria (grades A/B/C, Art. 6) phase in only from 2030; packaging minimisation under Art. 10 applies from 1 January 2030.

SK EmpCo Act No. 310/2025 Coll.
The Slovak transposition of the EmpCo directive takes effect: a ban on misleading environmental claims, on generic environmental claims without specification where the trader cannot demonstrate recognised excellent environmental performance, and on climate-impact claims based on offsetting emissions. Supervision by the SOI; fines from €200 up to 2% of turnover, at most €200,000 (up to €400,000 for a repeated breach, up to 4% of turnover in a coordinated EU action). In the Czech Republic the transposing act is still in parliament.

EU EUDR Art. 8; Art. 38(2) and (3)
Due diligence before placing relevant products on the market (wood, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, soya, rubber, cattle) – for everyone except operators that are natural persons, micro-enterprises or small enterprises established by 31 December 2024 (they have a deferral until 30 June 2027, but not for timber and timber products listed in the annex to the EUTR). Downstream operators and traders fulfil their obligations from this date regardless of size. Supervision in Slovakia: the Slovak Forestry and Timber Inspection (Act No. 81/2025 Coll.).

EU CBAM Art. 22(2)
At the end of each quarter, the authorised CBAM declarant must hold certificates on its account for at least 50% of the emissions embedded in goods imported since the beginning of the year; after exceeding the 50-tonne threshold, it must meet this obligation by the end of the following quarter (Art. 22(2a)).

End of the deferral for operators that are natural persons, micro-enterprises or small enterprises established by 31 December 2024 – from this date due diligence applies to them too.
